Telecommuting is expected to skyrocket over the next few years. Should your company jump on the bandwagon? The payoff could be big, according to the latest data.
BOLT Insurance Agency recently gathered telecommuting data from research conducted by the Connecticut Department of Transportation, Telework Research Network, American Business Collaboration for Quality Dependent Care and GigaOM.com, and compiled it all into one meaty infographic.
Some of the highlights:
- Companies can save $11,000 per person by letting them telecommute
- Workers can save between $2,000 and $7,000 a year by telecommuting (depending on how long their commute is currently)
- Employees in work-from-home arrangements report less emotional and physical fatigue, and
- One out of every two workers has a job that’s compatible with at least part-time telecommuting.
The infographic also includes five common myths about telecommuting (see bottom).
