Great expectations

Expectant mothers have a lot to plan before a baby arrives. So it’s not surprising many of these employees neglect researching their benefits.
A recent study found:
- 71% of pregnant employees say they’ve spent “no time at all” or “less than one hour” reviewing
their health benefits - 44% haven’t created a family budget to include a new baby, and
- 36% underestimate the cost of a routine delivery, thinking hospital fees usually total less than $5,000.
The study recommends HR/Benefits target these employees for education. The payoff: Lower post-delivery turnover rates, and higher benefits and compensation satisfaction.
